Fog lifts from mythic canals, footsteps echo in ancient alleys, intoxicating music moves on the night air. The soaring, sensual music of the German gothic electronica band, Qntal will transport you to ecstatic heights as you dance with your mysterious partner long into the starlit night.
Founded in 1991, QNTAL presents a unique melding of traditional music with contemporary electronica, creating compelling music of exceptional beauty, emotional power and depth. With the soaring vocals of Syrah at the center supported by the accomplished musicianship of founder Michael Popp, Fil and Marcus Kostner QNTAL musically explores classic, poetic and mythic themes of love, beauty, mystery and wonder. Very popular in Germany and throughout Europe with a passionate US fan base now aggressively expanding, QNTAL evokes respectful comparisons to Dead Can Dance while maintaining their own unique identity. New York duo, The Gypsy Nomads, channel the spirit of the old world gypsy sound, lacing it with a cabaret, celtic and neo-medieval flavor rooted in folk and the vineyards of southern France. The duo features bilingual French-born British chanteuse Samantha Stephenson on vocals, percussion and drums and songwriter and veteran of the punk scene Scott Helland on guitar, drums, and guitar loops. Together Samantha and Scott create a compelling onstage chemistry and their music is a lively and animated tribute to the free spirit lifestyle. The show is all about feeling good and their flair for the theatrical makes them hypnotic to watch. The Gypsy Nomads will open the Dark Carnevale with a special themed set.
